With Rebecca joining me this week as a person of leisure we decided to inject a bit of culture into our day with a trip to the cinema. Anatomy of a Fall has been highly recommended by our friends (and likely to receive a smattering of Oscar nods) so we wanted to see what the fuss was about. Without question, we got a prestige foreign drama - it just carried itself in a classy way you don't see outside of Europe. It's a fairly intellectual courtroom film, in that a lot of characters say very eloquent things about the struggles of being in a failing marriage. I personally found the film a little spiritually wanting, but in the films defense its clinical approach to law keeping was the point and it was wholly successful in its endeavor. A film I respect immensely, but could never love.
In the evening we had Louis and Rachel round for presents and the 3 M's: Mulled Wine, Mince Pies and Muppets. I now can't remember the last year I didn't watch the Muppet Christmas Carol, a tradition for sure that signals the big day is just around the corner.
