Slid back into the morning routine faster than I had antipated. Grind coffee, make porridge, catch up on online reading. Rebecca was keen to try and make the last of her days off and suggested a film and sofa day. So after our chores and a short walk we put on The Lost Daughter, Netflix's and Maggie Gyllenhaal's current big released which failed to light my fire. I feel like a lot of the books texture was likely lost in the transition to the silver screen as scenes often drifted in and out without illuminating any plot or character. You know something isn't quite right when you're enjoying the flashback material more than the core story too. While Olivia Coleman predictably great in it, she was just a boomer on holiday having a pity party. Tough for me to recommend, unless you're a fan of the novel.
