We somehow coasted through this week off cheese and crackers for sustenance. Panic gripped us when the last if the Christmas leftovers were eaten so we were forced to go do a mammoth weekly shop that hit our bank accounts harder than we would like. It's remarkable how expensive stuff has become all of a sudden, even the cheapo stuff elicits and 'oof' from me when I drop it into my basket. We just have to learn to enjoy what we eat all the more I suppose. I did chicken picatta for dinner tonight, a recipe I only learnt a year ago but it's slowly becoming a staple weekend dish now. I just had to close my eyes and try to not think too hard about how much the ingredients cost.
