On the build up to the big day we mostly helped Mum and Dad get ready for the Christmas Eve meal - a much more manageable affair from our previous parties. Beyond a tiny bit of food prep, moving some furniture and stirring mulled wine I actually wasn't used too much. I was mostly just another body at the table while playing Bananagrams and chief fire stoker (a mantle I adopt every year).
Hard to believe it's Christmas Eve again already. During the meal Rachel asked me what my favourite moment of last year was and that put me into a reflective spiral. The whole of next week is about celebrating the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future, no doubt I'll have had plenty of time to take stock of 2025 by New Years. In the meantime though, Santa has to do his rounds and give presents to all those deserving.
