Another pre-New Year goal I set for myself was to teach myself how to crochet. I did knitting a couple of years back and actually remembered getting quite good at it. Im theory I should be hit the ground running for crochet right?
...Right?
Well kinda. It's a totally separate way of working all based around pulling loops through other loops. I mean, all weaving is repeated knots, and knots always boggled my brain even in Scouts so maybe I have a predisposition to be a little bad here. I watched YouTube videos, practiced movements and stitches and kinda got somewhere with it all. But all soon as I built a foundation, then made my first row, every tutorial seems to gloss over turning your project and threading the next step. that part might as well be magic because I cannot figure it out for the life of me. I have restarted now more times than I can count, so I'm getting really quite good at the early stuff but can't convert it beyond a certain state. I found comfortin the comments of the videos I was watching, all bemoaning how hard it was to learn when all they wanted to do was make cute frog toys. Indeed I found myself becoming irritable later on. I just wanted to get in my head the next bit so I know where I'm going wrong.
I watched a 'How to Knit' video too and it all came back to me. Maybe I should pick up the needles again too?
