Opened the front door to a pair of carpet chaps who were here to turf out our brand new loving room flooring. I sat quietly minding my own business in the dining room where we piled up all of our furniture while they beavered away. To save a bit of money we opted to do all the haulage ourselves at the end. This meant that a veritable blockade of old carpet and underlay was piled up all around me - whenever I got up to make myself a cup of coffee (and cuppas for the tradesmen too of course) I had to clamber over detritus like an obstacle course. The work was ace though, Rebecca felt the difference underfoot immediately and I'm still getting to grips with how cushiony it feels. Best and worst part of the work is that new carpet smell. It's a treat until it isn't.
