Day two of our Roman Holiday saw us doing some of the more bucket list/touristy things. We took the metro up to the Trevi Fountain, sadly we couldn't bask in it's full majesty because it was closed for renovations. What we could appreciate in full was the Colosseum and the Forum, the cornerstones of the Roman Empire. The whole was around the seating area Rebecca and I wondered what tools we'd carry into battle if we were gladiators. Unsurprisingly the trident/net combo was unpopular. Our tour was cut ever so slightly short by a sudden deluge - a borderline tropical storm hit Rome so everyone piled into the nearest (and most by virtue of their proximity to the monuments, most expensive) restaurants. We sat down, dried off, took one look at the price of coffee and immediately bailed. We found a much more modestly priced place and waited out the rain there.
Day two means a second tiramisu as well, this time I did some research and found the best, semi-mass produced one from a micro chain. It knocked Rebecca's socks off. Mine too by a lesser extent, but then again our judgement was somewhat impaired after visiting a trendy cocktail bar. Salute!
