Bubbaloo

Woke up this morning, 'Your SIM card has been rejected,' crap, now I need to get another one. Fortunately it just turns out that the local mast was knocked down by a bulldozer, I don't need to buy a new SIM! Unfortunately it also caused a really badly timed cock-up:

As me and Mark were leaving school waiting for his Mum to pick us up, our mutual friend Jack Curry (The pie guy) came up to us and asked to help him carry his wok to his car; I've had stranger requests so gracefully I obliged. It was 5 minutes later that we arrived at his car, he had just passed his driving test and offered me a lift back to my lift. I neglect to mention that Mark's mum doesn't like waiting and that by the time Jack and I pulled up they we just leaving. Jack was such a lovely chap that he drove me home shortly after, I re-payed him with a bit of bubbaloo I revived from Josh after tasking him with buying me the cheapest thing in the shop so all was well.

Came home to watch 2 films : Ferris Bueller's Day Off, which was very good, amusing lines and some satire made it hilarious and had one of the best street dancing scenes I've seen. I also watched Franklyn which was good and full of those deep meaning thingies but arguably lacked some character development and felt a little bit unnecessarily cryptic at times; but if your into that kinda thing as well as some good art direction then check it out.

Right, bed.

Finally beat you Sonic 2

It's been 18 years, my childhood has been tormented and twisted by the fact I had never completed the game I grew up with; but no longer! I sat down for a good hour and a half, collecting rings for my 1-ups and later losing them while cussing loudly at the screen, particularly during the last bosses: it's ridiculous, they give you no rings and expect you to deal with 2 bosses back to back, they were really repetitive and easy, but that's not the point. I have still yet to earn all the chaos emeralds to see the real ending, but that's an adventure for another day. I also spent a good 30 minutes trying to hook up Mark with my RockBand 3 game, got there in the end and it was pretty rad; should defiantly do it more often.

School tomorrow... Don't wanna go back. I'll try getting up early so I am mentally prepared for the long day before the time comes. I give that weekend a 4/10, 1 point for Sonic but the rest was a little bit meh... have a good Monday!

Saturday 26 February 2011

Damn you, ice cream?

How, I still don't know, but as I was opening a cardboard tub of ice cream, I managed to slice the top of my index finger, then to make matters worse, the damn stuff didn't come out very easily, had to scrape around for about a minute just to get some caramel goodness. Battlefield was hilarious tonight, as Dan, Louis and Ben (hopefully soon to be featured in one of our films) were jut so funny, obviously you had to be there; but they really made my evening.

I was also granted free weekend texts from the powers at Vodaphone today, figures that it's also the one time that nobody replies to any texts I sent throughout the day, oh well. Tomorrow is another day.

Nothing beats a Friday hike

Exexpt maybe a Friday in, but it was still fun. Unfortunatly we took an immediate wrong turning and ended up lost for about an hour, quickly we changed course and went on our merry way. I found a couple of spent shotgun shells in various colours to hopefully be used as props if we ever need them and a souvinir train ticket to remind me of the hike.

Returning home I was greeted with KFC (thank you God) which was very tasty as always. Where has my half term gone? Seems to have just flown by leaving me feeling a little dissapointed since I didn't do a lot of productive things... DAMN YOU MINECRAFT!

Thursday 24 February 2011

The family had been re-united

Finally, after 2 days alone, Louis and the parents have come back from their various holidays, adorning me with souvenirs and anecdotes aplenty. It's so nice to have someone to talk to and to do the washing up.

I am so shattered at the moment and I have no idea why, probably because I watched 'Across the Universe' which is a musical epic, and a very heavy film, very good though due its great soundtrack and visual spectacles. I'm off on a hike tomorrow so I need the early night to prepare me physically for it so I will speak to everyone laters.

What a crazy party!

Had a lazy day today, watched 'Down With Love' and played minecraft with Dan. Later we went to a party and I have only just gotten back, so sorry for the short blog but I need the sleep.

Have a good one!

Tuesday 22 February 2011

Home alone

First thing I did when I woke up in the morning was boot up the DS for a little bit of Final Fantasy Tactics 2, 'How relaxing' though I, 'A quiet time alone after a pleasant lie in, next I'm gonna get up and have a nice breakfast and then continue on my tree house in minecraft.' What a lovely morning I had...

Only that didn't last long.

Louis came in 5 minutes later, took one look at the DS, said 'I need that' in the tone of a disgruntled ogre who just ate a very prickly peasant. He then ordered me out of bed to help him fold up his sleeping bag and my room was COLD at 9am. At that point I was also reminded that I had to do the washing up from last night and Louis was going away so he couldn't possibly help out with it, figure he leaves me to do all of it; lazy bugger. As I then ran my fingers through the soap suds and pie grease in the washing bowl I remembered I needed to get my phone, halfway up the stairs I heard Louis screaming my name, I ran straight up fearing that he had hurt himself or that I was in trouble; he wanted a cup of tea. One hour later Louis eventually left, the washing was finished and my breakfast consisted of the left-over muffin I forgot about in the living room. What a lovely morning I had.

I also got around to watching Children of Men which was really good, a normally unreliable friend recommended it but I went in with an open mind, which was eventually blown by the amount of 'epic' the film presented. Lots of long shots (some were over 5 minutes), a great and believable environment and ultimately, characters I cared about which is very impotent in a film; you also gotta love Clive Own when he swears or has the occasional funny line.

Bed now, need to make up for the lost time Louis cruelly stole from me this morning. Will be off to a party tomorrow so expect an early and possibly dull blog; I'll try my best though.

Monday 21 February 2011

Ooh, more zombies!

Another slow day, parents left for Iceland this morning, leaving me and Louis to defend ourselves, so far so good but we still havn't done any washing up; we'll do it tomorrow...

Watched Big Fish again today, it's better than I remember acctually which is good, lots of good and diffrent actors in it and of course, the usual cinematography genius of Tim Burton. It was hard holding back the tears as well even though I knew the ending, but damn is it sad, bit my tounge and kept face though!

I leave you tonight with what I consider to be one of the best game trailers I have seen in a little while, certianly got me exited for the game: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/cinematic-trailer-dead-island/710652

Enjoy and have a good one!

Sunday 20 February 2011

Lordy, Minecraft is addictive

As you can probably guess, I got Minecraft today, played it online with Louis and a friend, I was a total jerk to everyone but we all saw the humor in it... I hope. I also baked muffins! Coffee and cream flavor although they taste more like banana bread if you ask me, but it's all good and will make a good Minecraft snack for tomorrow.

This evening I was also taken to a small party where Rock Band was necessary, simples I provide an option of entertainment and they provide the buffet! Then I got home and had a big slice of chocolate cake, so in total this weekend was a 5/10; bit lame but fun in places. Lie in again tomorrow, I love half term, if your going to work tomorrow then pat yourself on the back, for you are a stronger (wo)man than I.

Saturday 19 February 2011

Lame Saturday

Did very little today, felt tired the whole way throuhg it so I will probably have a lie in tomorrow. Managed to get a copy of Tomb Raider 3 for 50p today, totally worth it considering all I did was shoot the gardener and lock the butler in a cupboard, that'll teach the creepy son of a gun.

So really nothing great happened today so I am left hopeful for a invigerating tomorrow.

Friday 18 February 2011

Half term is here!

Finally, the much awaited break has arrived, a whole week to do whatever I like... better start lounging now then since I have nothing better to do. Finished my mock exams also, came home at 12 today, felt like a champ, had a quiet film Friday today as Dan accidentally told everyone else that it was off, watched 4 Lions again which is always a good laugh and overall had a good evening.

I woke up at 2 in the morning, not sure why at first, then I noticed that I had lost all feeling in my right arm; I must have been lying on it too hard. Had to physically pick up my own arm to get it working again, not a good feeling I can ensure you! Weekend is here, hopefully I will get a lie in Sunday morning to recharge my batteries, I need the rest as my face is starting to look like an extra from Night of the Living Dead... Have a good one!

Thursday 17 February 2011

Mock exams, sigh...

Oh man that was really boring, fortunately the hours just flew by so at least it was quick but it was certainly tedious being in a 3 hour exam... really drains you after walking a long way to school; but I am moaning, which is not why you read my blog! If your up for a hilarious Internet meme then check out the Foul Bachelor Frog and his many posts, certainly made me smile; but crude at times though. Not work safe!

Right, now that I revised some more I will drift towards my bed, then stay up for another hour doing nothing, now that I have acknowledged that I will go to sleep! Have a good one!

Wednesday 16 February 2011

Revision...

Uhhn... so very boring, got my 3 hours history exam tomorrow along with and 1 and 3/4 film studies, it's gonna be either a really long day or a fast day, nevertheless, I am not looking forward to it.

Good luck to Mark tomorrow, who is going skiing somewhere over the half term, hope he has fun. I have no plans during the break so I may have to come up with a day activity of some kind to keep me occupied, something zany... I'll think of something.

I should also acknowledge the film by Chris Pearless on the site, featuring yours truly and Dan in the short production 'Self Esteem Fund,' I really enjoyed it until it ended and felt cheated... then I realized it was supposed to grab my attention and keep me wanting more so very well done.

Sleep soon, have to walk into school tomorrow for the first time, It will be the longest and coldest morning of my life, best to make the most of it though!

Tuesday 15 February 2011

Damn you, Super Glue!

Ah Tuesdays... little bit chilled today, no major work and just preparing for exams. The bb gun broke again, only in a easily fixable area though, so I decided that the best way to permantly fix it would be super glue; how wrong I was... How wrong I was... Mum spilt the whole bottle on the kitchen table, coating my fingers and the bottle in the pesky adhesive, currently I am still looking for a way to get the damn stuff off my fingers. Granted, it wasn't as bad as the time I genuinly stcuk my fingers together but it was still a minor catastrophie; funny though.

Went to see a one man performance of 'Private Peaceful' which was great, really enjoyed it and saw loads of people from my community.

That was my Tuesday, easy Wednesday tomorrow, have a good one!

Monday 14 February 2011

Happy Valentine's day 2011!

It's that wonderful time of the year again where (at least in my world) very little has changed. I still appreciate the holiday however as we get plenty of web specials and the like to keep me entertained, and revision... makes me go all mushy on the inside. the Craptop has officially gone kaputt, refuses to start up and makes ugly noises... time for an affordable upgrade methinks...

Hope everyone has enjoyed our latest film, comment if you like it, any support, however slight, is appreciated and at the end of the day, it's what keeps people like us going: making people happy.

Happy Valentines Day!

Just a quick post from Mark here - our latest video has been finished and can be viewed by clicking here.

Have a good one :)

Sunday 13 February 2011

As Time Goes By

In a few short hours, Mark will have uploaded what could be a prototype of the final piece, however we consider it final so enjoy, and if you've already seen it... watch it again! Enjoy!

Did a bit of revision today, prepping for my mocks in the later half of this week, not really looking forward to that but at least we get half term afterwards. have a nice Monday and again, enjoy our film.

Crazy Saturday

I woke up the same time I thought I was just getting to sleep, i'm not sure if I slept well or not, but I got up for volenteer work regaurdless. I sorted out all of the TV cables and came home to room tiding, at least I have a tidy chest of drawers and closet now! I also went to the charity ball this evening and had a wondeful time, only just got in so I will probably crash now... have a godd tomorrow!

Friday 11 February 2011

Hell yeah, It's Friday!

Wow, It really has been a good day today. Woke up a little late, but still had time to drink my Friday coffee; i swear I love that stuff like Winnie-The-Pooh loves honey. (I'm on his wiki page now, did you know it was published in 1926? it hasn't aged a day, utterly timeless.) School was easy, 3 English lessons that we simple and neatly paced with the Friday mood.

Me and Mark spent a good 30 minutes trying to think of a film title in a little brainstorming session. I told him it should probably incorporate the theme of time in it, and that it has to be something quite 'epic.' We came up with some utter crap like 'Goldfish bowl' and 'The Daniel Roberts Experience' The former being too obscure and the former being too narcissistic. I then thought another theme of Casablanca would also be good in the title, I asked what was the name of the song Sam plays for Rick, Mark plainly stated 'As Time Goes By.' We then immediately turned to each other, our eyes lit up and we shared a high-five, truly a moment of great inspiration. The film is currently being tinkered with at Mark's house and prepared for a Valentine's Day release.

Left school with the intent of final purchasing a permanent trilby/fedora, our hunt first lead us to TK-Max, immediately we spied the clearance hats section, the perfect hat was neatly placed on the floor , £9.99 but far too small; we left a little disappointed but headed towards Peacocks. There they were, the forbidden fedoras, the fruit of our labours, £7.50 and it fits! Wearing now as I write this, dead chuffed. Mark also persuaded me to buy some bracers which are also very awesome: now my Blues Brothers costume is truly complete!

Film Friday was another success, watched Anchorman which was very funny but I also thought it wasn't funny enough. I loved the all-star cast of modern comedy stars, however the Empire 500 list has it rated at 113, just a few higher than one of my personal favorite comedies: Withnail and I, and Much higher than the underrated Superbad. After most people left we also watched American Psycho which was a bit of a mind shag to put it bluntly. Christian Bale was great and a very interesting character, I particularly like the scene where they are discussing business cards, Louis would have loved that. From what I understand, the ending is up for debate, no-one is clear on what really happens but it certainly took us on a wild ride that can be described in one word: Graphic.

Just had a massive coffee and considering what I will do for the rest of the evening, one thing is certain though: I look damn good with this hat! Have a good one!

Thursday 10 February 2011

Back to my post-apocolyptic wasteland

Returning back to the glory that is Fallout 3, currently speaking to Dan over skype, rather nerdy, but good fun none-the-less. The film is so nearly done, literally we just need a name... and we can't think of one whatsoever, at least we have a little while; any suggestions?

Film Friday tomorrow, Anchorman is the decided film, should be a good laugh as I hear it is. Until then I must catch up on my beauty sleep for the dance thing I have on Saturday. Have a good Friday, I know I will!

Wednesday 9 February 2011

Getting lost near a bunch of warehouses

Me an Jamie had a bit of difficulty finding the pick up point for my Blues Brothers costume, we were walking around for ages until we finally rung them up and asked where they were, pretty embarrassing when we got there; at least I got my cheap, and not necessary nasty hat and sunglasses!

Get up early to add the finishing touches to my history essay and a necessary shave, I'm thinking 6, groan but it should be alright.

Tuesday 8 February 2011

So nearly done

We are so close to getting our new film done, it has been a real experience watching our footage transform into something amazing, so far I am really pleased with the project, just a few more filters and sound checks and we should be able to share it with you; hope you'll like it.

Watched Dead Man's shoes today, I guessed the twist within 5 minutes by chance, but it did not affect my overall enjoyment of the film, Shane Meadows really captures how lower class British people speak, his script really sparkles in places and the pacing is decent througout. Not as good as This is England though.

I will take a little trip to the costume warehouse tomorrow to pick up my things, if they have arrived, more on that tomorrow though. Have a good one!

Monday 7 February 2011

Red socks

I should really tidy my desk, crud all over it and it makes me feel claustrophobic. On top of that I've had a really boring day, and I just want to go to bed... Pulp Fiction for the second time was very good though!

Have a good one!

Sunday 6 February 2011

I love you Ewan Mcgregor

Nice little Sunday movie, humorous, factual, pair of good actors and not too demanding. We did some filming for Mark's media coursework, he was quite pleased with the footage which is good, and it made me feel like I had a productive weekend which makes pleased. I think what I'll so every Sunday is rate the weekend out of 10, the weekend gone certainly gets about a 7 in my books. I need a proper video game I can get stuck into again during the half term so I can really enjoy myself... what to play though...

Short Monday, need another film for the afternoon. Have a good start to the week!

Hot Stuff

That's the neame of my mug by the way, what's written on it anyway. Big day at work, made lots of money again and I learnt a few more card tricks.

Appart from that it was a dull day to a degree and not looking forward to a busy Sunday... oh well better make the most of it.

Friday 4 February 2011

This is... ENGLAND!

Ooooh, what a great movie, film Friday choice as suggested by Joe Greggson, I don't know why but I was originally very sceptical before the movie started, I think I got it mixed up with another film of similar name or something. But in all honesty it was sublime; highly recommend it.

Doughboy attended the school's Oscar night after entering our '8 of Spades' video, we were up against tough competition but came out with Best Performance from our main man: Dan. Very proud of him and was impressed with the other entries.

Volenteer work tomorrow, let me check the BBC weather report... Cloudy... I was hoping for rain but that'll do I guess, less customers that way, more free time that way. Theo Out!

Thursday 3 February 2011

More redneck than I can handle

Winter's bone was pretty good I must say, strong in performance and atmosphere but something for me just didn't quite click with me, I can't think of it right now but I'll keep you posted.

Already looking forward to the weekend and I don't know why, nothing particularly fun is happening, I guess I just want a break. Have a good Friday.

Wednesday 2 February 2011

Sleepytime?

Got that tired feeling again, just wanna go to bed and stay there... Two good things happened to me today, I learnt an awesome new card trick and I watched The Virgin Suicides which was very good, going for the Sophia Coppola hat-trick soon, at least when Somewhere comes out on DVD.

Tuesday 1 February 2011

Editing was fun

I did a little bit of editing in our new film, quite happy with the stuff I did considering I have never used the software before, watching Mark do his thing for about 6 hours has done the trick, I'm a visual learner you see and I learn stuff fast. Meditation in school was something a bit new, we all got to lie down gently on the carpet in mild tranquillity; very relaxing.

Lethal Weapon was pretty good also, I liked Danny Glover and some of the great moments, I will  always remember the amazing building leap scene; best buddy cop film I've seen in ages. Laptop in for tomorrow, might do some cheeky scripting if I feel like it, I'll see if I get any inspiration between now and then, suggestions anyone? Always open to ideas.
