Mark's stand-in blog

I think that Theo is away so just to be sure - I am writing the blog entry this evening.

I finally got round to watching 'A Christmas Story' which Theo lent me and I really enjoyed it. I love the lamp that the father wins! I've not had much to do for the last couple of days which is a complete contrast to Theo's currently busy lifestyle!

Unfortunately we have had to cancel the '30 hour gaming session' but will be definitely be doing it at a later point - more time to gain sponsorship! I plan to go to a new years eve party tomorrow which should be good fun - I haven't seen Lucy in ages. Whenever we meet - we put our hands together and hum the Star Wars music in frustration. It's like a mini force battle. SO looking forward to it!

I then have a couple of maths papers to do (eek) before we go back to school. Theo should be back tomorrow - if not then Dan will be doing the blog. S'all good :D

Catfish

If you havn't seen it, do. It's a great documentary about a couple of film makers making a movie on their best friend, I won't say much more but it is incredably funny, emotional and almost inspiring. In other words, yes Mark; I'll lend you a copy. Also went on that hike, knacked so I took a bath, very relaxing until you realize that you are swimming in your own filth.

In addition, make sure you check out www.fredthemonkey.com as what you will see will blow you away!

Off to meet some people from diffrent Europien countries now, should be exiting as there may well be food as well as many fine stories and whatnot. Have a good one.

Tuesday 28 December 2010

Gonna be busy in the next few days

I'm off on a short hike tomorrow with the lads, hoping for a bit of banter, that's until the afternoon. In the evening I'm off to an extended new year party from the 29th until the 1st, should be amazing and a ton of fun. Will do my best to keep blogging however as I may not be around for some of the time. Had the family party round here, had to entertain the little ones with cbeebies.com and google earth, just making do with what I got and I think they were happy, also popped in Mario Kart; amateurs.

Bed now after an AMAZING game of TF2 with the doughboys, totally dominated the opposition with style. I also need to reposition my alarm as every time I get out of bed to turn it off I just go back to bed... a conundrum indeed.

Monday 27 December 2010

Snow will be gone in the morning

I'm gonna miss it, but it sounds like the rain has washed away all of the snow. At least it's starting to warm up, which is exactly what my desktop weather station is telling me, apparently it's 17.5 C in my room at the moment which it's too bad considering I have been cold all week. I also proclaimed a late Christmas present in the form of a new hoodie, which is amazing as I needed a new one to keep me snuggily.

Will be having one side of the family over for a large party tomorrow, all we seem to do is have parties, at least there is a lot of food! Bed now.

Sunday 26 December 2010

It's like I'm IN SPACE!

Played a heck of a lto fo Mass Effect 2 today which is incredable, picked it up for £10 on Steam which was a bargin, the rest of the day was that kinda spacewalking thruhg the house thinking that it still is Christmas... but it isn't. It's a bit sad really.

Boxing day has come and gone, but the goods we recieved yesterday should stay with us for a lifetime, unless they're crap, in which case we wrap it up and give it to someone next year.

Saturday 25 December 2010

A nice quiet Christmas

Boy, what a lovely Christmas. Woke up early for a bit of Mass Effect 2 and opening the stocking fillers which were pleasant and served as a starter for the main batch which was yet to come. Had a glorious breakfast of gammon and eggs with grapefruit, after the washing up we went in for the presents. Blessed with 25th anniversary of Mario, (The Holy Grail) along with Rockband 3 which is treating us very well so far. Granny knitted me a Cavern Beatle John Lennon which is awesome along with a Kick-Ass graphic novel and Roger Ebert's Greatest Films books which are an incredible read.

Watched 2 films today, The Secret of Kells, an beautiful animated film about Irish folk-law which was absolute eye candy from start to finish, a stunning find. We then turned to the old James Stewart Christmas classic: A Shop Around the Corner, which is a seriously overlooked Christmas film which almost feels a bit cult when you watch it, next year though, pop it in if you want a charming comedy.

It was nice to end on an old movie as now the Christmas feels complete, dinner was gorgeous and the atmosphere was very hushed which was a nice change. Off to bed shortly with that warm feeling of satisfaction and cheer. Hope you all had a very merry Christmas, I know I did and i want to share a little bit of that happiness with you. Have a lovely evening.

Friday 24 December 2010

Its Christmas eve!

And I'm very exited, mark has been moaning at me that my Christmas list wasn't very big or creative but I decided to leave the gifts to fate this year, just take them as they come an be pleasantly surprised. We will be hosting a party in about an hour and Mum is getting a bit stressed, as expected; just do what she says and she shouldn't moan too much at us. Speaking off, I better clean my room.

Have a good evening, preferably with relatives and a movie of some kind, have a nice sleep as I will certainly be too exited to, and have a very good Christmas tomorrow!

Thursday 23 December 2010

Shopping sorted

Got all the Christmas shopping out of the way this afternoon, spent a good 2 hours walking through the snow and ice for happy smiles on Christmas day; we also got a nasal spray. I managed to pour a copious amount into my nose and go into a coughing frenzy for about 5 minutes.

Cold is getting better but I am feeling physically drained, 2 more sleeps til Christmas folks.

Wednesday 22 December 2010

Will this cold ever pass?

what a total bummer these last few days have been, my condition seems to hopefully be getting better however as the sore throat has kinda passed, now I get the blocked nose and ears which is a right pain in the cushion. Once again, very little today will be going Christmas shopping tomorrow, I know I left it a bit late but me and Louis have been very 'busy' lately...

Staring now at what was a VERY large mug of coffee, do I want another one... no. Hot chocolate will do. Sleep easy, I hope I do.

Tuesday 21 December 2010

30 Hours of gaming is comming up

For all of those who are unaware, we will be hosting a gaming session with should last for 30 hours straight in very early 2011, for more information head to the facebook page and any donations are heavily appreciated.

On an other note, I have the worlds worst cold. My head fells stuffy and my throat is burning up whenever I speak or breath, to top it off I had a terrible night last night. basically I was up reading Garfield until 11:30 and I was sleeping in a sleeping bag because my duvet was in the wash, this made it much harder to get to sleep as it's very hard to get comfy in a sleeping bag. Finally I drifted off, awaking at 1AM and feeling cheated out of sleep, every time I went back into a dream it was the same recurring dream which was desperately boring, hard to understand and was something to do with cowboys moving gold in minecarts. I kept on waking up in 10 minute intervals for 3 hours until I finally got up at 4:30 for a glass of water in the kitchen, it was also there I paced around in a circle telling myself 'Don't think about cowboys.' It was madness.

Apart from that it was an average day, I mainly played, and completed Shank which was pretty good and now I'm going straight to bed to make up for all the time I lost yesterday. Good night.

Monday 20 December 2010

Another lazy day

Boy I really need to start doing productive things, fortunately I just got a bunch of games from Dan, who is awesome and I bought myself Lego Batman so i should be alright for the next few days. Also got around to watching Thelma and Louise today which was very good, I paid particular interest in the homages within the Simpsons, they were clearly big fans of the movie; 'Marge on the lamb, season 5.'

Also dug up my own Lego and will hopefully be re-building the Mongolian emperor's building thing when I find the time and the pieces. More snow may well be on the way so drive safe and have a hot chocolate.

Sunday 19 December 2010

Lazy Sunday

Woke up at 10 this morning which is unusual for me and proceeded to doing very little throughout the rest of the day, didn't settle into a good game because I couldn't think of one, it's the Christmas hump we all gotta pass where everything seems meaningless and we are just time killing until that glorious day.

Had a few good games of TF2 and thats about it, bed now, have a good one if your back at work tomorrow!

Saturday 18 December 2010

Busy snow day

It snowed today (Woo-Hoo!) So I got Mark over to build a snowman of sorts but we failed miserably as the snow wasn't the stickiest and was very thought to roll. Once we built our snowman however we felt the need to obliterate it with BB guns, this was great fun. Put up the Christmas tree to the festive classic, The Pokemon Theme, there's something I thought I'd never say but there we go. To round off the day I watched Inception again, which was great, even for a second viewing.

Didn't go to my Grand Parents it turns out so I am stuck here, I'm thinking of getting stuck into a good game again so I can pass the time until Christmas... Only a week away you know; only a week away.

Friday 17 December 2010

Yay, no school until 2011!

Got off school today at 12:30 after a great day at school, 1 lesson and a lot of happy faces. Went to Starbucks and accidentally asked to drink in rather than take away, after producing a massive mug for my huge coffee I had to ask the clerk to pour it into a take away cup, felt a bit cheeky. Saw Triangle today which was pretty good, then I watched a video about the inconsistancies and then realized how much the film acctually left out, which was a bit of a bummer cause it was pretty good until I looked past the glossy and ambigious stroy to find a number of plot holes.

Tomorrow I will be away at my Grand parents house who never have any internet so i may have to blag mark to doing an update, until then; have a happy Christmas holiday.

Thursday 16 December 2010

Nearly the end of the Christams term

With one day left of the school term I have wondered what I shall do to make it a more grand and festive experience, we tried playing poker with red and green chips but that only brightened the mood slightly, we really should have organized a cheap-o version of secret Santa where people can only spend £1 on their gifts, that would have been pretty damn funny. Tomorrows film has been decided as Triangle, the modern horror film with a good twist apparently, which means I'll be busting out the ol' owl cushion to hide behind because I'm crap when it comes to horror films.

Early morning Misfits tomorrow, hope they put the episode up on time unlike two weeks ago (Grrr) until then I will try to get to bed soon. Last night I had a pizza hangover as I awoke at 3AM finding it hard to swallow and my mouth feeling drier than Hitchcock's sense of humour forcing me to get up in a drowsy state to get a glass or 3 of water. Hoping again that it snows overnight, have a good Friday and have a good end of term.

Wednesday 15 December 2010

Full up on stodgy pizza

As mentioned yesterday, I went to Pizza Hut for an all you can eat and was manipulated into beating someones score of 19 slices... I only managed 13 and a 1/2, so my ego is somewhat deflated.

Fo' rizzle this time, I am getting an early night, just gotta clock in the alarm on my phone and then  I'm up to finish my coursework. 10 Days till Christmas!

Tuesday 14 December 2010

Recovering nicely

That cut on my finger was pretty deep it turns out, had a look at it just now but at least it has stopped bleeding. We watched a bit of Psycho today which was sweet except we only saw half of it due to technical difficulties. Other than that I had an easy day today and was lucky enough to see someone fall into the canal on their bike, I had a private lol to myself so as not to embarrass them.

Easyish day tomorrow as well, only 3 lessons and then home where i will count the minutes to my Christmas party at Pizza Hut, not a huge fan of the joint but at least it's all you can eat, meaning I will abuse the title grossly! Enjoy your 'Hump Day!'

Monday 13 December 2010

Nearly then end of the School term!

Woke up feeling like i shouldn't have gotten out of bed this morning, i just wanted to lie in. When I did wake up however I was in a bit of a rush and ultimately broke my shoelace in my haste which made things worse, fortunately I was not late for my carpool. I also had to prepare dinner tonight with my specialty: pasta putenesca, made know to me through A series of unfortunate events, a geniues sage of books well worth a read! I was taking the lid of a tin' a olives and badly cut my finger down the joint so it is very difficult to type, but I am soldiering on.

Watched Bad Santa this evening which was surprisingly decent, not to judge a book by its cover, but the DVD cover did make it look a bit trashy. Although not a Christmas classic, it is certainly a better modern Christmas movie worth checking out. I'm off to bed now, hopefully we will watch a bit of Psycho in Film Studies and we may even get some editing done; stay tuned!

Sunday 12 December 2010

Francais?!

Nous travaillons dans le nuveux film, c'est bon. Regaurde 'Trainspotting' c'est tres bon. Et, je suis fatigant, maintinent je couche dans mon lit!

Bon soir!

BAGUETTE!

Saturday 11 December 2010

Lotta work for a Saturday

We were rather busy at the CFP today, did a solid 1 and a half hours of heavy lifting which has left me very tired indeed, will probably retire to bed very soon as we are filming a lot of stuff tomorrow, mainly for our coursework piece.

Until then, I'm not sure why there isn't a link to it on our site, but www.carrotcakestudios.co.uk is Louis' website, which you should all check out if you haven't already, you won't regret it.

Friday 10 December 2010

What a great Friday

Won, the 'oooh it's Friday' competition against Mark this morning and had two very easy lessons. After that we went home and watched Pulp Fiction which was a work of genius, I loved the character's performances mixed with the dark-ish humour. Then I went off to the school Christmas fare, where as far as prizes go, I somehow cleaned house in that department, winning a massive haul of Xmas goodies, pretty chuffed with myself.

Early start to work tomorrow, everyone else, have a lie in; you probably deserve it. (Especially you Mark, getting the day off work and all.)

Thursday 9 December 2010

Ooooh, Friday tomorrow

We didn't get any editing done today as Mark's video files didn't transfer correctly, which is a shame but these things happen. Went to see Louis perform in the Christmas song thingie at school this evening, he played 'Merry Christmas, War is over' which was pretty cool and he did it very well i thought.

Good Friday tomorrow, not in the Easter way but I only have 2 lessons and then home for a film, I'm thinking Pulp Fiction, looking forward to the weekend!

Wednesday 8 December 2010

Only 6.12 MB left on my hard-drive

I went from 4 GB to 6 MB in about 5 minutes somehow, guess my computer is just being fussy. We didn't get the filming done that we wanted to today, Mark's hosepipes were frozen over so we couldn't simulate rain. What we did do was set a baby doll on fire for Mark's coursework which looked awesome and really creepy. Before I went to Mark's house though I was really worried I wouldn't have the time to finish my History essay as I only had an hour free today to finish it off and I was no-where near completion, but then, as luck would have it, our critical thinking lesson was canceled due to an ill teacher! So I got all of it done and I am pretty light on homework now so I can do more impotent things... like play TF2.

Wearing long-johns in bed now, so hopefully I won't fear the cold when I get outta bed and then be late fo' school. Looking forward to tomorrow, and I hope your having a good enough week so far, weekend is getting closer, and Christmas is to.

Tuesday 7 December 2010

Woke up this morning...

With 10 minutes to get to school, fortunately i slept in my smart trousers so I didn't have to change much but it was still a bit nippy in my room, makes it very hard to get up. I need to start thinking of xmas presents for friends and family, but I have no idea where to start, except for Daniel, I think I got him covered.

Will be going off to Mark's house tomorrow do finish off a bit of filming, Dan and a hosepipe = win? I certainly hope so!

Monday 6 December 2010

Phew...

Had a good day today despite the Mondayness of it, got a good mark in a history test and doughnuts were passed around in maths class. Had a quick game of poker night and then I thought it was time to turn in. Shut down my PC and settle down in bed...

OH S@*&! I FORGOT THE BLOG!

Fortunately I booted the computer back up and I'm here typing this now, this is dedication folks, and I really wanted to go to sleep. Oh well, Mark will be happy.

Better be off now, gotta be up and ready for Tuesday, school poker is in for a pleasant surprise tomorrow!

Sunday 5 December 2010

I love you TF2

Spent a lot of today playing Team Fortress 2 on out new private server, good times were had by all. Back to school again tomorrow and I feel a bit hollow like I always do before going back to school after a little break, just gonna have to man up and face the Monday.

highlight of today: The Nazi episode of Donald Duck:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iumEGAUceDg

Enjoy and have a great start to the week!

Saturday 4 December 2010

Show me the money!

Ah Jerry Maguire, what a good movie... I recommend it to anyone who is a fan of rom-coms or even if you just want to watch a pleasantly funny film.

Work was fun today, we re-arranged the warehouse so it spelt the initials of the charity, good fun. Nearly the end of my 4 day week-end and I had better get some homework done for Monday, enjoy your day of rest.

Friday 3 December 2010

Got some filming done today

Went down to Mark's house for that day to film Daniel mouthing the words to the Moulin Rouge version of 'Your Song,' so far so good although we didn't finish everything we wanted to meaning we didn't spray Dan with a hose. Spent 45 minutes trying to transfer MP3 files onto my phone, basically it didn't want to read sounds of my micro SD, then it suddenly decide to function correctly; time well spent.

Off to work tomorrow, hope everyone else has a great weekend!

Thursday 2 December 2010

Super Meatboy!

Meat boy is pretty damn good, almost completed it which makes me feel epic. My day off was very relaxing, did a little bit of homework and I'm off to Mark's house tomorrow to film some shots for our coursework. Apart from that, I am starting to feel a bit festive, the snow and the mince pies are all beginning to add up, meaning that this year will hopefully be a good Christmas!

23 more days until Christmas!

Wednesday 1 December 2010

Holy hell. Snow!

It's absolutely chucking it down with snow, meaning that schools will probably be closed... Unfortunately it was my day off tomorrow anyway. At least there is snow.

Not really much more to say, played super meat boy, which is awesome and you should totally check it out, other than that, don't let the bad weather get you down and I hope you enjoy advent; I know I will!

Tuesday 30 November 2010

The end of November

It's the day we (all 4 of us) have been waiting for. The end of No-Shave November. We all gathered around my house today and compared beards for the final time, who had the finest... I'll let you decide!

Here is my side shot, clearly winning the best side-burn thing going.

Mark here, looking a bit wispy, not quite as 'manly'

Laurie boasting a rather blonde beard, difficult to see mainly due to Mark's terrible photography; the focus is all off!

Once again, poor focus here, but clearly this is Dan sporting a more of a 'gentleman's goatee'

We all went up for a shave moments after these pictures were taken. After a lot of moaning at each others shaving style and interesting insights as to each others shaving products (Laurie uses shampoo as shaving gel while this was Dan's first time with water... ever.) We emerged 10 minutes later leaving the sink looking a little like this: Look away now if you are easily 'grossed out!'

Oh yes. That's disgusting. But sometimes a sacrifice must be made for the greater good and this I what I look like now:

I look and feel 10 years younger now, as we all agree. So nice to have a smooth face once again, reminds me of better times where I wasn't mocked at school.

On a side note: Happy Birthday Jamie! It's his 17th today and I hope he had a great day! Advent starts tomorrow so bring on the mince pies and advocarr; cus the Christmas season starts here!

Monday 29 November 2010

Getting cold out there

Woke up absolutely freezing and generally felt like crap this morning and I just wanted to go back to bed, fortunately Winter's kiss bitterly awoke my mindset  as soon as I walked out the door and haunted me for the rest of the day. Finally finished my english coursework, all printed and looking lovely, after spending ages on it I must say, I am quite proud.

Ah yes, the final days of beard. The Fuzzdate, is soon comming to a close. The participents of 'No-Shave November' will arrive at my house tommorow evening for a communial shave as a final farewell to our furry friends. I will post some pictures of that later however, until then: early night! Have a good evening- hope it snows!

Sunday 28 November 2010

Oh my weekend

What a helter skelter few days. Went to that media camp i mentioned and I must say it was very good. Did a bit of filming, played a few games of uno and had bacon butties... in a log cabin type thing! It was pretty relaxing. Also managed to get a bunch of people to watch Evil Dead 2, apparently they liked it although they thought it was a bit silly. Only bad part: The temperature, we spent 40 minutes washing up in the dark at sub-zero degrees and Naomi refused to give up on a particularly stubborn rice pot so we were there for so long that our tea towels froze... that's cold! This morning I went on a 5K Santa fun-run, despite the fact I haven't done any exercise for 5 months I did pretty well, got a little medal and everything.

AHH... the flash! It burns! Considering we didn't edit this at all, this is pretty speical.

Here is the real thing, man I look rough, gotta face Monday like this tommorow? Might get snow : )

Saturday 27 November 2010

Gotta go!

Good morning, this is a blog first i must admit, going away to camp in a bout 30 minutes and the camera batteries just died, sorry!

Gotta make your (hopefully) daily blog journey so here is a funny song a bout PC maintinence: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpCJzdWxEbQ

Friday 26 November 2010

w00t

TGIF, I am off to a media camp with my scout/explorer group tomorrow, so I am looking forward to that; may have to do an early blog in the morning so I don't miss a day.

Ahhh... portrait this time, high tech. I have not dyed mt hair red, I just stood under some light and it came off looking pretty epic.

Thursday 25 November 2010

A good day

Despite the lack of snow, today was a good day, got a nice A for a history essay I cannot remember doing and our film script was given the 'okay' by our teacher; although he told us to cut some of the cheese out of it. We have and the script is better for it. In addition I have a new PC lounge position, still needs to be perfected however as although it is much better for my back, I have no mouse or keyboard support as things are now.

5 More days and it will all be gone, noticed some hairs are starting to go a bit grey, says something about how old it is now. Can't wait to shave this thing off, my chin will be so much lighter!

Wednesday 24 November 2010

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow... Please!

Hoping for snow tomorrow as we may get the day off school which would be great for me and loads of other people; time will tell though. Steam has got me covered for Christmas presents this year thanks to its awesome sales goin' on right about now, need to pick up super meat boy while its still cheap. Found the Easter egg the other day, its worth hunting down and it actually really easy to find if you look in the right place, you will know when you see it, it looks like an egg.

Another scary picture tonight as Louis is out at a public speaking competition, I'll update you when I found out the results, until then you get this uncomfortable picture of me, had to go and charge the batteries for this picture, damn things are nearly 3 years old and are starting to give up the goat, may go out and buy some new ones soon...

Have a good evening peeps, have a good Thursday, if you have time check out this short film I found a while ago, not many views so let's support it!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQJMSi3jtNo

Tuesday 23 November 2010

Poker

Finally I got my hands on Poker night at the inventory, a great poker sim with all my favorite characters, now I have learnt all of the rules for poker and if I was to play anyone at poker I would beat them at poker. Poker. Very tired, and you can tell I played a lot of that game.

Me and Mark finished a rough script for our film coursework, tried to make it blunt with some mild humour sprinkled into it so we hope you will enjoy. Hopefully it will be quick and easy to film as well but only time will tell.

Mark wanted everyone to come over next Tuesday so we can all shave together, I'll try to get full picture coverage for your reading pleasure, until then, have a good hump day (Wednesday) find something you enjoy doing and do it!

Monday 22 November 2010

All in all, your just another brick in the wall

Watched Pink Floyd's 'The Wall' this evening, what a trip that is. One big metaphorical mess, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Tried some of the Marks and Spencers cheap-O espress-O, unfortunately, it's not that great but it will do when I have a craving for java.

Suddenly, everyone at school is starting to notice the fuzz, must have blossomed over the weekend, but not into a butterfly, into a really hairy moth... that's disgusting, sorry for that analogy!

Sunday 21 November 2010

Why can't weekends last longer?

Full day Monday tomorrow, not looking forward to that in the slightest, spent most of the day playing games and feeling unproductive, which sucks. Did watch an Andrew Marr documentary on JFK which was pretty good, apart from that, nothing noteworthy happened today; which gets a colon, left parenthesis from me :(

Here is the beard again, in case your not sick of it but if your an avid blog fan then I guess your not. Enjoy it while you can though! It will be gone in 9 days, I'll do a large and picturesque blog then for your reading entertainment. Until then however, brave the Monday weather and mood and have a ball!

Saturday 20 November 2010

Feeling a bit retro

Was at the furniture project today, fixed up a laser disc player which is essentially a DVD player that plays vinyl sized CDs, give it a google and you may have a laugh. Also bought a copy of Clerks on VHS today, still wrapped! pretty chuffed with that, and for only 10p! Rare copy of a cult classic!

Although I am wearing the same shirt, I ensure you it is a brand new picture. 10 more days! Have a good day of rest, aka Sunday, do something that scares you!

Friday 19 November 2010

Near midnight snack

Nothing felt finer this evening than when I walked upstairs with my hot chocolate and a sausage, represents both food groups, the savory and the sweet in one Delicious meal. Also had a pretty epic game of L4D2, Louis got pretty miffed as we (Mark and I) absolutely trounced the opposition but it was very awesome. I don't know why, but I recently got back into Sonic... the old and good stuff at least and I'm lovin' every minute!

We watched City of God this afternoon as it was film Friday (Mark's choice), beast of a movie, really good stuff. Well developed characters mixed with expert cinematography and some memorable scenes. Mark didn't think that it was tense enough though, which I think is absolute bullspit, but I want to hear what you think! Leave a comment if you agree with either of our opinions.

That picture took 12 minutes to upload after my PC repeatedly crashed, I hope you people appreciate the effort I go through to bring you thee lovely images. I jest, of course, but i am going back to my volunteer job tomorrow, I'll have to explain this monstrosity to my fellow volunteers.

Thursday 18 November 2010

Need to catch some Z's

Just a short blog tonight, did you like the video yesterday? I hope you did. Mark and I are starting to plan our film coursework production, basically a short film which is graded, unfortunately we have two possible ideas but cannot choose; we'll see how that pans out. Just had a glass of warm milk so I am winding down for bed, oh how I long for the duvet's sweet embrace.

Oh that cheeky grin of mine, who can resist? Everyone apparently... Doesn't hurt to smile though, especially as its Friday tomorrow, better get a Crunchie then, might actually have a Friday taste this time.

Wednesday 17 November 2010

That hit the spot

I only just remembered how good hot chocolates are... my God they are awesome, I personally like to put a bit of chocolate ice cream on top of mine for added flavor. On an unrelated note, I watch the Hitchcock thriller Psycho today, pretty epic in that traditional, old-classic way, 50 years later and I still didn't know the twist and it still kept me on the edge of my seat; awesome stuff.

Oh yes, starting to look a bit hairy now, resisting the urge to get rid of it all is starting to grow. Must resist for the cash prize.

Oh yes! Found this little gem on youtube, watch til the end with sound!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ysqh1uzqGrc&feature=grec_index

Hope you like it and I hope your having a good week!

Tuesday 16 November 2010

Wasp infestation!

Because me and Louis essentially live in the attic part of our house, it is common to expect the odd spider, ladybug... blistering cold in the morning. But it is only recently the wasps have made a return, causing tyranny every time we want a tea or coffee. Fortunately we have come up with the genius plan of trapping them under plastic cups until the just peeter out, that is until someone knocks a cup over and all hell breaks loose again.

I did a presentation of 'use of sound in film' today, I chose Eraserhead, a film my teacher had never seen before and possibly came out scarred for life... just like me and Mark were after watching that nightmare!

Mmm, I do love that thermal shirt, keeps me very warm in the cold mornings, the beard helps a little bit to, which is why i have developed an interest in the latest from awesome fashion: the beard head! Google it, and be amazed!

Monday 15 November 2010

3 new videos for you

Mark has put up a couple of new vids on the latest news pages, if you have some spare time, give them a watch as they are pretty epic in their own ways, the zombie draft will get an upgrade later however; the epicness will be too much to handle! There is also apparently an Easter egg somewhere on the website, kudos for whoever finds it as it is a real pain in the ass for me to find since Mark embedded it into the site, so you can't repeatedly hit tab in an attempt to find it, if you do locate the devious thing, leave its location in the comment section!

Dan bought me a Crunchie today, possibly the greatest chocolate bar known to man, except it had the phrase 'Get that Friday feeling with Crunchie' written on the side... tasted like earwax this monday afternoon after reading that.

No new developments in the fuzzdate, I'm acctually smiling in these pictures now which make me seem much more awesome. Thanks for reading, gonna play black ops; have a good evening folks!

Sunday 14 November 2010

Do you believe in life after love?

Ah yes, Cher is awesome.

Remembrance day parade today, fortunately I didn't pass out this year as I used to do as I have difficulties standing for extended periods. Also begun watching the Chanel 4 sitcom Phoneshop, I must say it is pretty good, though not a laughing riot it certainly does crack me up on occasion and is pleasantly humble in terms of production and actors.

You may have notice that my hair is a bit flat, it's because I did in fact have that lovely shower today and feel refreshed as such. Nearly halfway there, the others don't seem ready to give in to the pressure of looking like Tom Hanks in Castaway, so it may be a tough fight for the cash we all put in a pot, I reckon someone will crack though; just have to wait and see who...

Saturday 13 November 2010

Saturdays go by so quickly

Didn't get a chance to get much done today for some reason, just lacked any form of motive to do anything whatsoever. Black Ops servers were down this afternoon so I was very bored and I was so close to unlocking the revolver; I love those things...

Watched Mad Max this evening, it has clearly dated a little bit but it still had some awesome scenes, the first 10 minutes were damn good and it made me cringe in pain a couple of times. Overall it was good and leaves me open to watch the apparently superior sequel.

Lookin' good in yellow.

Seriously, I'm not sure if it's going to grow much more, and I think I could do with a shower.

Friday 12 November 2010

Can has wooden spoon?

This evening was fun, PTA quiz night at a local school, me, Dan and Laurie all hosted our own little team, Whale Oil Beef Hooked, (try saying that quickly and you'll get it!) and attempted to win the convenented prize of a £20 WH Smiths voucher; a man can dream... Of course we walked away with the wooden spoon for comming last... again, but this time we also got Kitkats! So all was forgiven.

Louis graced me with his abillity to actually take photos this evening, as we can see, it has now nearly matured into a fluffy chin mass, felt manly stroking it during the quiz, stating that I now have a beard to ponder with.

Thursday 11 November 2010

Damn you Activision!

Now I have to spend my free time playing your excellent game once again this year!

On a more serious note, black ops is a very good game with some great cinematic story telling, haven't finished it yet but I hope the ending is mind blowing.

Because my brother is being a real poof this evening, I had to take today's photo, I apologize in advance for the state of my room and the comparably amateur picture taking skills.

Good gravy, that was the best one out of 10 pictures, ah well at least we just got my lovely walls rather than my cluttered floor. Actually, the beams are beginning to remind me of some kind of Esher picture... bit surreal; or maybe I'm just tired.

TGIF tomorrow, can't wait for the weekend, hope you have a good friday, I know I will!

Wednesday 10 November 2010

Getting exited for tomorrow!

I got the new Call of Duty this evening, but its a good 16MB so it won't be done downloading until tomorrow, that's not stopping me though! I'll probably be up at 5am to play it, very exited as I have said, good times will be had by me.

Oh dear, more of that damn red marlarkey, also I really don't look good in white. Had someone stroke my chin today, which was lovely I must admit, felt very manly even if I do look really camp in that shirt... at least it's a thermal doo-dah so it should keep me warm tonight seeing as my radiators broken! Hooray for Winter!

Tuesday 9 November 2010

Somethings up with the website

I can't seem to access the website right now, I'll get Mark to fix that shortly.

Had a rubbish nights sleep, was woken up by the terrible sound of rain hitting my skylight at 1am and that was shortly followed by me waking up to an alarm from a clock I haven't reset according to daylight saving hours, oh well, at least I got to school on time to see that show which in all honesty was better than I expected, but not great.

I look like I have a lazy eye... and it has grown as we can plainly see. I also look and feel shattered, so I will leave it there for the evening, must remember my waistcoat for tomorrow, as it is 'Waistcoat Wednesday'

Monday 8 November 2010

Back to school again

Yes after an extended half term I am finally back in school, it's god to see all the friendly faces of all my chums since I've been gone but I just have to get back into the swing of things once again. My film studies teacher also sent an Email informing me I forgot to attach the coursework file to the original Email, lucky I spotted that before I went to bed or he would have had my head!

Spent a bit of time with Dan and Jamie today in town, seeing lots of people have cashing in on some very cheap Doritos, 25p from Tescos, very affordable. i will also be going to a 'Drive safe' kind of workshop tomorrow with the school, with any luck it won't just be a bombardment of sob stories and hopefully will actually make an impact on me... probably not, but I like to remain hopeful.

Today's picture:

Visibly getting a bit 'beardy,' many comments have been made by peers on it and I feel really weird about that, simply because it is all a new experience for me. Hopefully at the end of the month I can make a little montage of all the pictures and produce some kind of crude time lapse, more on that later though!

Sunday 7 November 2010

Comfy bed > Cold floor

As Mark mentioned I was away last night as I was helping out with a scouting activity which ran long into the night (about 3 am i think) and I only had a few hours sleep. Good thing there were complimentary bacon sandwiches for breakfast, oh and Revels; I love those things!

I also went off to the local Diwali festival which was actually pretty fun considering we saw a couple of Indian dance routines, all of which were great, and then we were treated to a lovely curry; all in all it was a humble night and I ate FAR too much again...

After yesterdays delay, i present to you the Fuzzdate:

God I look awful... You may also realize I have had a haircut as the old mop-top was beginning to get a bit cumbersome so I lopped it off. Chin is starting to get properly furry now after a week, just a bit scared what the teachers will make of these shenanigans tomorrow, guess we'll just tell them it's for charity.

Hope you had a nice weekend, Theo out!

Saturday 6 November 2010

Another stand-in blog...

So - Theo is out tonight on camp I think. Probably having a nice 'night-after-bonfire-night' and I hope that you are too! I've decided to be boring and stay in, but just finished watching Cloverfield - it was really good! I got a little motion sick as the film progressed, so I decided not to watch the rest of it in full screen mode. The production value was amazing - and all of the effects looked pretty good. However, it certainly wasn't as scary as some of the other 'found footage' films that i've seen - Paranormal Activity and The Blair Witch Project were much more gripping.

Went back to St Barts on Thursday to have a tour around the new building - mostly I think it's pretty sweet but there are some people who don't like it - they think it feels like a hospital. I can see what they mean - everything is very pristine. It just needs to be used a bit, and then all should feel nice and homely quite soon.

Theo's previous blog mentioned his coursework taking 6 hours - I think that's far too long! I'm doing my scene analysis on a section from Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind (awesome film if you fancy watching it by the way) but I don't plan to spend that long on my essay! We wrote up our main points in lesson and I can think of lots to talk about. However, when it comes to Maths homework, i'm a little behind. Did quite a lot of it today, two chunky exercises are now out of my way. I shall spend most of tomorrow doing the rest of it - it will all get done.

Well, that's it from me - you should have Theo back tomorrow and another 'fuzzdate' will be posted. I couldn't be bothered to take a picture - but I will say that there is about a centimetres growth around my chin and top lip, but the old sideburns aren't looking too bad at the moment - they'll do for now. In terms of the website - i'm rubbish at updating it so expect a large change as soon as i'm back in the school routine. I've planned out the layout of stuff to update - including our test zombie scene. So you should all be looking forward to it's debut. Wow i've written a lot. Early night for me, going for a run in the morning. That's all folks! :)

Friday 5 November 2010

This is... COURSEWORK!

Good grief, just spent 6 hours on my film studies coursework on Blade Runner and it is finally done. That took up most of my day with the exception of finishing Batman Arkham Asylum with Batman delivering an explosive punch to Joker, in the face! Definite man point.

Slowly but surely the stubble accumulates on my face, I'm also looking a tad greasy... shower tomorrow methinks. Short blog tonight as unfortunately I have been busy all day and the lads want to play L4D2, If  anyone wants to add me on steam by the way my account name is : Penguinx00. Have a lovely evening folks!

Thursday 4 November 2010

Man I'm tired

I am feeling shattered today, which is really odd considering I did sod all, did my maths homework but that's about it. So to remedy this I made myself the strongest coffee I could make, a double espresso without milk, bitter as hell; just the way I like it.

As many of you have noticed, my spelling is not great, in fact same may call it pretty crap, however, I have finally found the spell-check button on blogger which is marvelous meaning you lot can have a nicer read and I may learn to spell over time, not likely but hey!

Day 4 with no shaving:

I successfully look more and more stoned as each day goes by, stubble does that to you, sorted out the demon eyes though which can only be a good thing. All the pictures are taken in my brother's bedroom which is considerably prettier than mine, it also have walls on a 90 degree angle so he can hang up all the posters that I actually would really like in my room, I got a really awesome Scott Pilgrim poster for my birthday but no where to hang it; one day though, one day.

Wednesday 3 November 2010

Homework...

Today was like ying and yang, spent the first half playing Batman Arkham Asylum, which is awesome, then I did nothing but history homework for 5 hours, which was awful. After that however I went to a little firework party which was lovely, there was also free burgers so I figured 'why not;' I then consumed 4 of them and now feel like I need my stomuch pumped.

Here is the latest picture as Louis informed me his camera needs specific batteries to operate, its fussy, here's the image:

Little bit of the old 'Red eye' going on here, I didn't think modern cameras still did that... oh well. I don't know if you can quite see it, but I can certainly feel the stubble comming along on my chin, nothing out of the ordinary though, this is probably my 'noraml' level of fuzz, hate to see it this time next week!

Will play a little more counter strike beofre bed as I realized it now has some pretty sweet achivements and then I will be off again to bed, have a good evening folks!

Tuesday 2 November 2010

Bloody camera!

There will be no picture tonight as the camera has decided to act up on me, but I will try to fix it for tommorow.

Begun some more scripting for our latest movie today, comming along nicely. Saw the Social Network also which was pretty good, the perfomances were great and the cinematography was classic Fincher fare, very impressed. Despite the arguably dry subject matter I was surprissingly engauged throughout thanks to engauging characters and some witty lines peppered in.

I'll fix the camera to return the fuzz-update, which will now be called the 'Fuzzdate' because it sounds cooler. And also I will go to bed early after the midnight Battlefeild marathon yesterday, have a good one folks.

Monday 1 November 2010

No-shave-November

Thats right everybody, today is the begginning of that speical time of the year where me and several others will go a month without shaving, as promised I also took a picture of myself and will continue hopefully over the next 30 days to show the progress of my facial fuzz.

As we can see (semi)clearly I have shaved well yesterday and my chin is smoother than a babies arse, unfortunatly the acne-spot things have suddenly struck me so i will apologize in advance if the pictures are not very flattering.

Internet was down for 7 hours today... bored out of my mind as Steam crashed along with it so i couldn't play on my PC, oh well, at least I had my loyal Wii there to help me in my time of need.

That just about wraps things up for today, have a good week. But on a side note now that I am uploading images, when we were staying in Amsterdam a trio of kitchen utensils were presented beatufully for us, but one question dangled over us... 'What the hell are they?' If you have any idea please leave a comment as they have been the source of much comdey relief over the past few days and I would really like to know:

Sunday 31 October 2010

PARTEH!

As its Halloween I have gone off to a party for the evening, may be watching a movie later this evening, I smell either The Evil Dead (1/2) or possibly Zombieland. If not we will all be having a lovely and boistrous time, just as you shouldbe spending your evening.

Full blog tommorow, have a good one

Saturday 30 October 2010

Mark's stand-in blog #3

Evening all - just got back from filming "The Mikado" at Park House school - a production by Newbury Operatic Society. It was a good show and I enjoyed filming it, even though there were some awkward tape-changes that had to be completed! I am really looking forward to editing it using final cut's multi-cam system, though I am not yet sure how to sync up the clips when one camera has cut and then come back in.

Spent a few days earlier this week filming a music video with Chris at Newbury Rock School - organised by Leo Westby. The kids have written their own song "Holiday" and with the help of some famous teachers (such as the drummer from Tin Soldiers who is AWESOME!) they recorded it in a studio. The music video should look pretty damn cool and I shall be editing it soon.

So - what does tomorrow bring? Looking forward to perhaps watching "There Will Be Blood" in the morning before having a meeting with Dan and then maybe going to a halloween party after that. On a separate note - my brother is away and this means that I am looking after our Rabbit named Dumpling. Can I just officially note that he has been a bloody pain for the last few days! Just because John is away doesn't mean he should be taking liberties! He keeps hiding behind the water butt and knocking over his food bowl. Dumpling - work on your manners my furry friend.

Have a spooky halloween tomorrow (woo.) and enjoy an extra hour in bed :)

Daniel's Stand in Blog #2

So, Theo is away again for the Fright Night at Thorpe Park. Typical. Still, what a day we at CAFÉ had!

Today, Mark, Theo and I tested out our green screen ideas for the matrix scene, and we had a laugh. First it was Theo's typical kung-fu kick to the camera which we put into Final Cut Pro and it looked awesome!
Next, I went on the 'green screen stool' and sky dived, looking very stupid with a fan on max 3 in my face.
All in all, we had a great day, making toasties and watching an excellent film.

Fargo by the Coen Brothers.

Watch it, if not that, watch any of the Coen Brothers film! You won't regret it.

Well it has been a great evening. I hope you enjoy tomorrow and tomorrow's blog, where Mark will be telling you of the trails and tribulations of a Saturday. I just ordered pizza and we'll go from there.

Uru!

Thursday 28 October 2010

Hello everyone, I am back

Returned from Amsterdam this afternoon, it is acctually faster to fly to Amsterdam by plane than to travel to Cornwall by car I found out, which i pretty sweet. Went to this awesome chinese food place while I was there, 'Wok to Walk' is basically a stir-fry version of Subway, you pick your stuff and then you get a decent portion of noodles (or rice, depending on preferance) and you just pig out on some great food; if this is anyway came across as an indoresement of the resaurant, it isn't, it's just bloody good food! Visited a pair of art galleries, unfortunatly it had the older-still-life type of art rather than the modern impressionist stuff so it was essentially quietly suffeling around looking at portraits of bags of potateos and maids pouring milk, although high in quality it wasn't really worth the price of admission. Sleeping was just as fun, shared an extendable sofa and a duvet with my brother, the experience was neither a pleasent or a warm one as he repeatedly hogged the blanket and made digustingly awful breaths just as I was getting comfy.

Watched a group of movies whilst I was there, just quickly: The Fugitive, pretty good but was a little melodramatic. Die Hard 2, kicked my ass on multiple levels but still couldn't top the origional. And Cinema Paradiso, exeptionally wonderful in the first 40 minutes but then it occured to us that we packed the directors cut version which was FAR too long at 178 minutes, the ending was overdrawn and took too long to conclude; would have definatly preffered the theatrical version.

Finally the BB rifle arrived today, which should look awesome after its been painted as it is completly see-thru at the moment. Unfortuanatly I will not be here again to blog over the next two days as I will be away on camp over halloween, going to freight night whih should be sweet!

However, for your reading pleasure, 'No shave November' starts on the 1st, from that day I will not shave until the end of the month, if I am very awesome I will have a daily update on the fuzzes' growth via photos! I know, it's almost too exiting for your great minds, but if you just take a deep brreath and maybe and asprin then the pain will go.

See you folks tommorow!

Wednesday 27 October 2010

Mark's stand-in blog #2

Theo is still away and I must say that it's a little depressing looking at his steam account to find the words "Last Online 2 Days Ago" - he is always on steam!

Just finished watching a Spanish film called "The Orphanage" and it was very good - not particularly scary but certainly tense in places. I was just reading the wikipedia article and it said that one of the director's influences was "Rosemary's Baby" - a phycological thriller that my Film Studies teacher has recommended I watch.

Also watched "Let The Right One In" yesterday - a Swedish film about a vampire girl. It was rather odd but all of the shots in it were amazing - awesome use of focus. Tomorrow plans to be exciting as Chris and I are going to Studio 91 in New Greenham Park to film parts of a music video for Leo Westby's Rock School - planning to use a filter on the camera lens that blurs out the edges of the frame. I shall then meet up with Daniel to finish off writing the script and show him the BB gun before going to duke of edinburgh.

So, enjoy the rest of your week and (if you go to St Barts) another week off before moving into the new school building. Dan will be here with an update tomorrow and speak to you folks soon :) Night!

Daniel's Stand in post #1

Hello there, this is Daniel standing in for Theo as he is on holiday in Amsterdam, drinking beer and other... stuff.
Today, it seems, was a lazy day. The only major event that I can talk about is the arrival of an awesome object. One that radiates with man power. That's right, I'm talking about the A15 Panther BB gun. The single shot rifle is made of plastic, metal with a tiny bit of rubber, has an extendible stock, two optional reload functions and one kick-ass fire sound. It can shoot a pellet at optimum power for 45 yards which is roughly the same power as a .22 air rifle. Mark did look happy on web cam as he was showing me the Panther!

Another minor topic is that I started to plan and choreograph the fight sequence of the Matrix dream sequence which should look fantastic if I can pull these off with Louis and Theo. Should be something to look forward to!

Moving on, I believe that's it from me tonight. Good night!

Monday 25 October 2010

Mark's stand-in blog #1

Hello! Seeing as Theo is away in Amsterdam I thought that Dan and I should continue writing the blog for you. Well, it's finally half term after a work-filled start to sixth form and I for one definitely needed the break. Not much is going on when it comes to the filming side of things - I am in the process of editing our test zombie scene and it looks pretty good even though the sugar glass did not work. I shall upload the scene and it's outtakes as soon as they are finished. As avid followers of the website will know - unfortunately my updates are rare!

Yesterday I purchased some "special effects" for our new film including a BB rifle, zombie contact lenses and prosthetic wounds. They all look pretty awesome if you ask me - certainly looking forward to when they arrive. They were purchased with the £100 given to us by the CACP for special effects. We still have a small amount left over and are deciding how to effectively use this - any suggestions?

Watched "Broken Flowers" today - online on lovefilm. It started off pretty dryly and the storyline didn't develop hugely but I felt that Bill Murray was fantastic. The acting is pretty damn good but the ending left me frustrated and uncertain - arguably a positive factor!

Anyway, must be off to bed now but I shall return with another blog later on in the week. I think that Dan and I shall be taking it in turns to do daily updates until Theo's return. Take it easy and enjoy half term :)

Sunday 24 October 2010

I'm off on holiday

That's right, I'm leaving for Amsterdam tommorow morning and I still havn't goten around to packing (damn you, Battlefeild!) but I am looking forward to going as apparently they have very good coffee there. Bought some caffine tablets today, for the 'lols' also they may come in handy if I'm doing another all-nighter soon, they certainly perked me up at work today so they have already proven to be very fun.

I really ought to be packing right now, I'll see if I can keep in touch with you readers while I'm away, if not, then don't expect any blog entires; at least not for a little while. Have a lovely week, I will see you chaps later.

Saturday 23 October 2010

Horray for orange, plastic firearms!

Yes, the BB gun has finally arrived, albeit a few days late but it is awesome none the less. It will indefinatly be used as a prop in one of our later movies, so we can all look forwad to that as it very nicely replaces our small £1 pistol.

Apart from that, I quit mt job unfortuantly but still have to work until the end of the week, aka tommorow so I can say my farewells to the lovely staff and team-members, they were really pleasent and supportive and its such a shame I couldn't et the right hours there; but I did by some experimental breath-freashner... its minty!

Friday 22 October 2010

What a relaxing day

Played a lot of Battlefeild Bad Company 2 today, although for some reason the game isn't recording my exp I earnt in game, which kinda sucks but it good fun nonetheless!

Fianlly completed the Evil Dead trilogy today after I watched Army of Darkness, it wan't as good as the first 2 but certianly worth a watch for the consistant use of 'Rami Rushes' and other origional shot, along with some awesome and witty one liners delived from the man of blue colbalt: Bruce Campbell. Also watched the Naked Gun for the third time today, still a comedy classic, very quotable and off the wall; which is exactly what you expect.

Work again tommorow and I'm handing in my unfortunate resignation since I'm not getting the right hours, also my BB gun finally arrived today and is currently with Mark since it was delived to him; hoping to check that out tommorow. Until then, enjoy your week-end!

Thursday 21 October 2010

Let the relaxing begin!

Thought I would do an early bog tonight seeing as I have organized a Left 4 Dead mini marathon for tonight, basically myself, Mark and Dan are all going to play until midnight for a bit of a laugh seeing as I now have 17 days off school, hooray.

Although I was overulled by the family to watch First Blood, instead I watched Get Him to the Greek, in my opinion a better film than the directors previous effort: Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Although both films have Russel Brand and Jonah Hill, their characters are much more realized here and are definatly the main attractions of the film. Some scenes were an absolute riot in terms of humor and are definatly very origional in spite of the hilarious homage to Pulp Fiction. Some characters were harder to relate to than others and it took time for me to appreciate the fact it was a rock and roll film, although it won't change your life by any means, the film certainly provides some A grade laughs through a varity of exellent set peices.

Going to have a huge lie in tommorow, until then have a lovely evening and enjoy your time off if you are also a student, although technically half term starts after tommorow, mine is early so I am over the moon; have a good one folks.

Wednesday 20 October 2010

HOLY HAMBURGERS AND LOVELY SWEET TEA

Just logged onto Gametrailers just now and I found what may possibly be the greatest thing EVAR!

I'll let the video speak for itself, lets just say: I'm exited, your exited and your mother in law is exited.

http://www.gametrailers.com/video/japanese-debut-professor-layton/706427

I have a cunning plan...

Since I need to get up early tommorow to finish a little bit of homeowork for my last day of school I have devised a brilliant plan that will gaurentee my hasty awake. Basically it's three alarm clocks and a cup of coffee by my bed, although I brewed it very strongly so it should knock me back into reality quite nicely.

Local Cineclub awards was fun tonight, I say awards but it was more or less a movie showcase which was very pleasent, seeing our films on the big screen was glorious and it was nice to listen to a small audience response. Half term starts for me tommorow so I will celebrate with a movie (I'm thinking First Blood) and Left 4 Dead until midnight, we'll see how well that goes down tommorow, until then, have a good evening.

Tuesday 19 October 2010

Bit of a letdown today...

I was really looking foward to Tuesday, but in all honesty it was a bit rubbish. I didn't get to bed early last night, so I overslept again leaving me 15 minutes to eat, dress, pack and make lunch; not enough time to shave. Film Studies was alright, we are starting our coursework on a film scene of our choice and I chose to analize 'Mise-en-scene in Blade Runner,' forgetting exactly what mise-en-scene meant. When my teacher came around to evaluate our chosen scene I had nothing impressive to say and I came across looking like an abolute fool, he kindly gave me some pointer though, so now I should be good to go. Apart from that, I had a lot of homework tonight and I'll have a lot of homework tommorow. I'm also not looking forward to my maths exam tommorow as I fear I amy not have what it takes to do A-level maths... only one way to find out I suppose.

Tonight I WILL go to bed early, (around 10 sounds good) which is about now. My BB gun didn't arrive within the 1-2 working day gaurentee, which is very upsetting but it gives me something to look forward to. Tommorow is hump day, after that it's just a pleasent downhill track into the glorious week-end, already I can't wait.

Monday 18 October 2010

My bed sure looks comfy

Woke up this morning after changing the duvet from the summer one to the winter one, essentially now it's very poofy and warm, so it was exeptionally difficult getting out of bed as I was so comfy. I'm going to try getting to bed early tonight so I can get the most out of my time asleep in that wonderful place I call 'Dreamland.'

Monday, full school day, hard work. Tuesday, full day, favorite day of the week. Tommorow should be fun with English and Film Studies, and I hope you readers have a good one tommorow also, tip of the day: go to bed early; you won't regret it!

Sunday 17 October 2010

Weekends go by so fast

Well, that was another lovely few days of rest, not for me, but for you. We are going to start editing the bits that were filmed on Friday tommorow which should come out pretty well. Other than that, not an awful lot happened over the past few hours, back to school tommorow so hopefully something interesting will happen then. Good night everybody!

Saturday 16 October 2010

Monatge is up!

Yes that's right, Mark kindly put up the '80s montage on a previous blog post so that saved me the effort. If it gets a little popular and we get some requests, we may officially add it to a 'scrapbook' video page to the website for our smaller projects, please comment and tell us what you think.

I realized I havn't had a lie-in for the past month as I have had to be up by 7:30 at the latest over the past 4 weeks, which totally sucks... but hopefully in the near future I'll have the chance to huddle in bed.

Enjoy your last free day from work or school, I will be at work tommorow, but don't let that get you down! I get time and a half on Sundays!

80s Montage

Hey Guys! (It's Mark here)

I've just uploaded the 1980s-style montage that Theo and I made in Film Studies - take a look:
80s Montage Youtube

Have a nice day! :)

Friday 15 October 2010

Film Friday

Finally we got round to filming the first scenes of our zombie apocolipse, and I must say it was a little bit of a disaster. The footage should be great, but some of the little things went wrong, especially the fore-mentioned sugar glass which turned into a sugar putty when it came to filming. won't be making that again... Also a load of fake blood managed to land all over one of my best shirts, bearing in mind that stuff stains it was not a pretty sight. But we learn from our mistakes, next session should be much better and MUCH gorier!

'Thank God It'S Friday,' it has been a long week and I will try to get some good sleep in before work, enjoy your time off; i know I will...

Thursday 14 October 2010

Lack of a theme Thursday

Today, I spend 4 hours stirring sugar glass. It was not fun. It was not pretty. But i hope to God that it comes out alright as we have to import over corn syrip every time we make a batch, which costs upwards of £7! Should look good on film though. I also purchased a BB gun online which we should be ultimatly using as a prop, but that doesn't mean I can't cause some bruising while on set!

Finished editing the '80s montage, now I just have to persuade Mark to put it somewhere on the site and you can give us your feedback, I think it looks pretty sweet at the moment and definatly recommend checking it out when you get the chance.

We will be filming the zombie apocolipse scenes tommorow so I will inform you on how that goes this time tommorow, until then, thanks for reading.

Wednesday 13 October 2010

Waist-coat Wednesday

Not much happened today, just a short day of school and a lotta homework.

Watched 'The Fountain' this evening, visually great but criptic as hell. I personally prefered the graphic novel which fleashed out the story a little more but the movie gave the characters a little more personality. If your willing to dig into the films story and layers of meaning then give this film a watch, if you hate that kind of thing, your not going to like this film...

Short one tonight, but I'm tired so I will have a longer entry tommorow. Goodnight

Red tie tuesday

Thought I would splash out this lunchtime and try something different so I picked up a cheap-O pack of sushi from the local Tesco, and I must say it wasn't half bad. the rice was ridiculiously filling but the fish was pretty nice, it also came with a fish-shaped bottle of soy sauce, but did not come woth wasabi or any form of chopsticks, ergo, I ate with my fingers feeling like a fool...

As mentioned, the '80s montage is comming along nicely, editing in an hour was a little daunting so we will see if we can get some more time on that because it is looking good. Watched 'East is East' this afternoon, and it's about damn time I watched some more British movies. The characters, although plentiful, had quirk and charm while the stylelized 70's suburbs gave the film a great setting perfect for the film. I did laugh out loud (lol) in places and it also made me feel uncomfetable to watch in some places, which is usually the sign of a terrible or a brilliant move and fortunatly this film landed in the latter. Overall a pleasnt way to spend a good 90 minutes although I cannot see myself showing this to friends anytime soon, its just not that kind of film i guess... I still recommend it though if your interested in the whole minorites living in England theme as East is East captures this aspect without forcing it in the viewers face.

Right, back to enjoying my evening, hope you folks do to; have a good one.

Man up Monday

Monday is always a big day for me, lug in all my text books and then I'm treated to 3 hours of history followed by another 2 of maths, life is good on a Monday. I will be editing the '80s montage tommorow, adding the corny music and the special effects will be awesome and good practise when it comes to editing and as promised it may be up later in the week.

One of my film studies classmates complimented our work today which really made me feel good, it was just pleasent to hear feedback from a third party and really motivated me to make more films to entertain the masses, so thank you friend, you know who you are and you are awesome.

havn't been watching many films recently because I've been busy, but if you ever have a recommendation for me (or doughboy/cafe as a group, we're not fussy) then leave it in the comment section and I'll get round to watching it at some point. Til next time currently small blog audience, til next time.

Sunday 10 October 2010

The weekend is over

I know, its that time of week again, Sunday evening where you just want your free time to last just a little longer, ah well.

Work again today, I was till monkey for the first time ever and I must say it was pretty fun, the customers wern't too much of a hassle either so I didn't make too many mistakes and therefore time went by quicker, problem was I only had a 25 minute lunch break and I have a very bad heat endurance when it comes to hot liquids like coffee, so I had to quickly add cold water and chug it down. Lovely.

Hope you people have an easy Monday to ease you back into the week, may have an update on our new film by the end of the week, until then sleep well

Saturday 9 October 2010

Damn you, ambigious work timetable

Evening all, had my first real day of work this morning, my shift was from 11 until 6 and I must say I feel like a trainwreak with a hangover, but I am currently looking forward to my free Sunday, that is until dan told me I have another shift tommorow... pray to God he's wrong.

L4D2 was pretty fun this morning and I plan to play a little with the group tonight if they are not too busy and then to crash to bed for a well deserved rest, bliss. Everyone else enjoy your weekend, have a roast dinner with the family or whatever you traditionally eat on your Sundays and drive safe.

Sugarglass and Bowie

Today we made the sugarglass and i must say it came out a little bit more yellow than I expected, not sure if there is a way around this yet, but at least it functions like glass as it in shatters when hit hard which looks pretty sweet, however it turns out that Amazon is all out of corn syrip so we have to do our grocery shopping on Ebay, joy. The mixture had to be stirred for about 2 and a half hours, which obviously was a pain, but it did taste like frosties which is pretty bad ass.

Finished filming the '80s montage today, as promised we'll post it somewhere if its any good for your viewing pleasure, just please bear in mind that it is meant to be corny, expect a crappy masterpeice... wait a minute; thats an oxymoron!

Apart from that, I finally started watching 'Life on Mars,' pretty damn good, work in the morning so that should be fun, bed soon because I'm tired, will see you all again after your day off; have a good one.

Thursday 7 October 2010

Damn you, American release dates!

I thought I was going to go see the new David Fincher movie tonight, 'The Social Network' however it became very clear to me apon entering the cinema that instead I would have to wait another week for that one to come out and that tickets were booked for me to see 'The Secret in their Eyes.'

Simply put, it was epic.

It combined a perfect amount of tension, humour and mystery, the cinematography was incrediable and the performaces from Ricardo Darin and Soldad Villamil (thank you wikipedia) were spellbinding and it had THE BEST continuious shot I have ever seen; it got better with every second and had me grinning throughout. It cannot be done justice in a review as small as this, go watch it if you get the chance, hell, go watch it again if you have the same opinion as me. Don't judge it because its foreign and you have to read subtitles, it has more class than you if thats the case. Nah I'm just kidding, but seriously, watch it and be blown away by something many movie goers wouldn't normaly watch.

Thats about all from me, once again im off to bed and I'll talk to you about our friday tommorow, hopefully we'll have made some sugar glass, if not, there will be a funny story to tell.

Halfway through the week

Just a few more days until the weekend, something we all look forward to.

Been hard at work story boarding an '80s montage sequence for Film Studies homework, so far it is looking adequatly cheesy and motivating, like most other things from the '80s... Be filming that in class tommorow and we may even upload the results if we are pleased with them, so look out for that; should be pretty awesome.

Watched the Illusionist (the 2010 animated film) today, it was pretty good, the art was incrediable and the animation was fluid and beatiful to watch. Although the character were well thought out, they could have been developed a little more, however I did like the communication issues between the two main characters as most of the film is spoken in french or heavy scottich utterances which works really well. I would recommend it to anyone with a love for silent or animated movies, I prefered its predessesor 'Belleville Rendez-vous' (or 'The Triplets of Belleville' if your French, however I doubt you'd be reading this blog if you were) for its quirky and darker sense of humour, but the Illusionist certainly struck an emotional chord with some of the audience I was with so you may want to see it if you feel like being hit with a Europian ending for a change. My verdict: 4/5

Appart from that, I checked out the new Left 4 Dead DLC, 'The Sacrifice' and to be honest, it was ok. For the low price of £0.00 on the PC I can't really argue, some moments were more inspired than others, but as a whole it was a bit bland as there was a lot of running through shipyards... Oh and you also get L4D1's 'No Mercy' which was one of my favorite so its freaking awesome they made an official port of that.

Right, reviews are over, you all have a nice evening, I'm off to bed now as I remember to blog before bed. Wow, that sounds pretty sweet: 'Blog before Bed', might do that, probably not or I won't get round to it, oh well...

Tuesday 5 October 2010

The blog has arrived!

Good evening to all you possible viewers of the new doughboystudios blog! Welcome to our little website and I hope you enjoy the films and other media we have (and will) produce ove the years.

In the future we will be re-named 'Cafe' as it is an abriviation of something, but I can't remember what which is always a good way to start. One of our new films is up, a little project that took us about 3 days to script, shoot and splice for your viewing pleasure; you lucky people. The film is titled 'One Curious Predicament' and Stars myself, Dan and Louis in a mild crime drama where not an awful lot happens in a tense moment, give it a watch if you got a spare 5 minutes, if you like it please tell your family and friends as we have just started up and would like a few more views.

Just so everyone know, the film crew and myself are all students so please do not expect updates on a very regular basis, however the blog, which you lovely people are now reading, will be updated daily, we'll see how long that lasts. The blog will be about anything I care to share, particularily about anything I feel like talking about, there may also be sneak mentions about new films in the making so keep and eye out for that.

That pretty much wraps it up, you folks have a nice day and I'll tell you about ours/mine if you are so inclined to listen to it.
