I coordinated a French speaking lesson for a a cast member through a professional voice coach this afternoon. I'd been chatting on email to arrange the lesson with the tutor and the tone was all very formal. She then asked how I get her contact details, purely our of curiosity. I revealed that we had a mutual friend and immediately she transformed into a different person. Capital letter, in-jokes and photographs all came torrenting out, as if by having a proxy friendship meant we had been in the wars together. Such a remarkable light switch moment that I just couldn't get out of my head.
