I wondered why my throat and nose felt so dry throughout the whole of today. Then I turned my head a little bit and noticed the smoke machine was pumping out haze about half a meter away from me. The whole place smelt like Lazer Quest (minus the sweat thankfully) but there was a point where we called the SFX guy out a bit for being a bit heavy handed on the smoke. Sure it lends texture to a frame but when the crew can't see their way around set then maybe it's a bit much.
