Bye Bye Boat

Last day of the canal holiday was bittersweet. In my mind's eye, today was meant to be a victory lap, a day of reflection and appreciation for the boat and the gorgeous nature surrounding it. In reality, we spent most of the day unwinding locks, doing 17 of them back to back which took around 3-4 hours, we were all shattered when it was all over and all I wanted to do was to lie down. But then I would miss out on all the little bits of magic around me. First thing this morning I was greeted by a chorus of ducking chirps, I was so enamored by them I couldn't resist feeding them a few porridge oats. Things like that are always worth keeping your eyes open for and scenes like that always feel personal. Gonna miss the boat.
